A few days ago I was painting and ran out of black watercolor paint. So I made a speedy trip to hobby lobby to replenish my palette. Little did I know that I could make black watercolor paint easily at home! I […]
- Activated charcoal
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Mixing bowl
- Scratch paper for testing
- Palette for paint to dry in
The charcoal I have is actually in pill form. Which is really handy cause It’s already measured for me! So if your charcoal is in pill form you’ll need one capsule. If it isn’t, you’ll need about 1/8 teaspoon full of charcoal. Put the charcoal in your bowl.
Then add 1/2 teaspoon of water.
Mix it with your q-tip, until it looks like this!
Then add a 1/4 teaspoon of water. And mix thoroughly. Once your mixture looks like this, you are completed!😆
When your paint is completed you can pour it into your palette. Don’t forget to test it before pouring. To make sure it’s the right consistency for your liking!
Here is my palate. Excuse the mess!!!😂As you can see I paint with watercolor a lot!!! The black all the way to the right, is what your paint will look like when dried. And the black beside it is the one we just poured.
I hope you have enjoyed this post! And give it a try! Making things yourself is so fun and satisfying! Feel free to comment down below!😝

Admits all of the coronavirus chaos, Spring has sprung! And I am so enthralled. Today I just wanted to share some of the beauty with you that spring holds.
I just love the beautiful flowers, that are constantly blooming! Sending their gorgeous fragrance everywhere! The other day I went on a walk, just savoring the lovely weather and soaking up the amazing sunshiny weather. After walking around for awhile I passed the lilac bushes and noticed something. There nestled back into the branches was a birds nest. All around it lilacs where blooming, throwing their fragrance everywhere. And I thought to myself “What a gorgeous spot to make a home. Nestled deep into the bushes of a lilac, smelling their sweet soft fragrance all the time.” What a way to live!
I also noticed that the weeds have once again graced us with their beloved presence!😂
This weather is perfect for a leisure bike ride!
The trees are starting to bud, this beautiful spring season.
Picnics, or a tea party is a wonderful way to spend your afternoon! I enjoy going outside and drinking a cup of tea, with a good book and some flowers!
Many trees are flowering, and the beautiful smell floats though the air.
I hope that you have enjoyed this post!☺️

1. Enjoy the rainy days.
I live in Indiana, and rain is definitely a common occurrence. Drop the dream of snowy winters, all we get is rain and dark dreary gloom. listening to the pitter patter of the rain lazily lapping the rooftops, can make you extremely restless. I think It’s like a friend, whispering secrets in your ear. Oh, the secrets of the rain. Anyway, I find that the lazily rainy windy winter days are ideal for many things. I love to (paint, read a book, draw) or just sit with a cup of mint tea in my hand and ponder. I find that lazily rainy days are the best days for a stroll in the woods. These are my favorite things to do on a rainy day!
2. live in a world where happiness and sunshine are always aloud.
Even in the gloms of winter, we should never let ourselves get down. Be happy, do things that make you happy and let sunshine fill your soul.
3. Embrace imperfection, that’s my one of my main goals.
Embracing imperfection is really hard. Especially if you’re a perfectionist. But I find that embracing imperfection is extremely important. Especially in art.
4. Try something new!
It’s always important to “branch out.” And do that thing that you’ve always wanted to do but never had the courage or time. Like paint, draw, or play an instrument. These are helpful hints to a more enjoyable and challenging life.
5. Take a walk.
Take a walk in the woods. Taking a walk in the woods, especially after it rains is immensely enjoyable. It’s so inspirational and inspiring. Don’t forget to Bring a camera and/or sketchbook with you.

Happy NEW year!
One of my goals this year is to be more creative, and make sure to leave some time to paint, draw, and write…… everyday.
I want to be able to do what I love everyday. It’s important to do what you love. Art, is my personal getaway from life. We are so busy, and we just get so caught up in what we HAVE to do that we don’t leave time for what we LOVE to do.
This year I want to leave some time to do what I love to do.
So, grab your paint brushes, paints, pencils, sketch books…….etc and start doing what you love everyday!
Here’s a few materials that I use daily. The bright reddish pink and blue books are what I paint in pretty much everyday. I love it when the brush hits the paper and how just a bunch of random strokes can turn into something beautiful!😝
These are strathmore mixed media books. I use them for pretty much everything!👍🏼
I encourage y’all to find a time in the day where you can just sit, and draw. Or paint.👍🏼🙃
Watercolor is really relaxing. When the watercolor hits the page it flows so beautifully. It’s extremely mesmerizing!😊
I love writing, and enjoy it immensely!
This is just a very few of my favorite art supplies. This year I encourage you to keep drawing and painting. Even if you don’t think you’re that good at it, it’s important to practice. Do what you love!🙃

Hey guys! I am so excited about today’s post!
I wanted to make a unique and special card for my aunt’s birthday. I was thinking about using my TS9521C Pixma Canon photo printer. I decided to experiment instead. It’s always good to try new things, especially when it comes to crafts.
Well, guess what!!!! I am so happy that I decided to experiment, because now I have this super cool project to share with you guys!☺️
To make this card, you will need:
- 100% pure corn starch.
- Mod Podge- gloss
- Acrylic white paint.
- Acrylic modeling paste.
- White cardstock.
- India ink.
- Popsicle sticks(one)
- Paper plates(two)
I know that it seams like a lot of ingredients, but it’s totally worth it!😊
Once you have gathered all of your supplies, you can start by putting eight teaspoons of water into your cup, then add one overflowing teaspoon of cornstarch and mix till combined, or until it looks like this:
After that you will then pour your mixture on your paper plate!
The next step is to add three teaspoons of white acrylic paint to your solution. I found out a super cool trick for getting your paint out of your teaspoon easily, no mess! If you put cornstarch all around your teaspoon (like a little dusting), your paint will plop right out!😃
Then mix well. One thing that you might notice is that there will be globs of paint in your cornstarch water, but don’t panic because those globs will have disappeared when we are ready to start marbling!
Next, add one teaspoon of modeling paste. Modeling paste can get REALLY expensive, so if you don’t have any, or have some but it cost like $30 and you are a little bit hesitant to use it for this project, I suggest using Artist Loft Modeling Paste (You can find it right here) https://www.michaels.com/default/10222023.html Don’t forget to use a coupon!☺️
Then mix. It might take a while for the paste to combine with the other ingredients. Then add two more teaspoons of water (this makes your mixture not so thick and easy to use) Next, add your Mod Podge. You will need two teaspoons.
Then, using your popsicle stick, mix thoroughly. Then grab your aluminum foil, shiny side down, place it on your surface. This will keep your surface clean. This mixture is messy and really tough to get off surfaces. Trust me, I found that out the hard way!
Now separate your mixture evenly between both plates. This will give you the ability to do two different color patterns!
I don’t know if you can see but I have separated them. The bottom of the plate is white and the mixture is white. This makes it harder to see in the photo!
Next, add the India ink! I like to use two colors. Three might mud! They always say that artists work in odd numbers. I have to admit that it’s true, they do, but sometimes they don’t! Today we are going to use about five drops of ink per color (I guess we’re artists!)😂
One thing that I find really amusing about this, is that once the ink hits the solution, the solution almost immediately consumes the ink! I have no clue why, but my guess is that the water and acrylic paint mixed together along with the other ingredients are strong enough to bury the ink!🤔
One thing I like to do, is make bubbles with my dropper. This adds for a cooler and more interesting effect! Also, dropping some ink beside one color can make the colors mixed together to form a really cool color. In this case it’s green!
Here’s my other plate! In case you’re wondering, the color names of my inks are: Golden yellow and Turquoise. This one is: Aqua and Cherry red. I love this blend because it almost makes a galaxy-like effect!
Next, cut your white card stock so that it is the card size that you prefer. In this case, the smaller the better!
Now it’s time for the fun part!😝 So be ready to have some fun! Ok crafter, lets get started. Place your “card” or about to be card in to your mixture. Do not stir. Let it sit there for a few seconds and then pull it out. Next, place it on the aluminum foil and let it sit there till dry. Repeat till all of the mixture is gone!
Isn’t that so cool? I love it!😊
Check this one out!
I love the texture that this technique gives you! I hope that you have enjoyed this post! Don’t forget to come back for more AWESOME and CREATIVE ideas! Till next time, KEEP CRAFTING!😉

Hey there, Crafter! I am so glad you dropped by because today we are going to be talking
about cards. I love making cards, especially birthday cards and thank you cards. Today I’m going to show you how to make a really easy card for any occasion. This card is actually really weird because you have to put it in the fridge. But trust me, it’s so fun! It’s also a great project for kids. So grab a friend and Let’s Get Crafting!!!
Often I get invited to a party, and then last minute I remember that I don’t have a birthday card!😦 I don’t have much time to spare, so I have to act quickly. Today I am going to show you how to make a super cool and easy card for all of those last minute parties!!!!!
The materials that you will need for this project are really simple!
You will need:
- Koi Coloring Brush Pens
- White card stock
- Paint brush
- Parchment paper
- Paper cutter AKA:portable trimmer
- A jar of water
The first thing you will need to do is cut your paper. This is when your paper cutter will come in handy! Don’t get me wrong, girl, you don’t HAVE to have a paper cutter, you could just use your Cricut or Silhouette etc. But today I am using my paper cutter. I have the Cricut portable trimmer! I LOVE it!❤️It has a little grid for scoring, which I love.
This grid is super helpful because you can line your paper up to the lines and get a PERFECT cut!😃
Okay, once you have cut out your card, you get to choose the colors! This is one of my favorite parts about this card because you can literally use ANY colors you want it’s soooooo customizable! So, to pick the colors, you can use practically any color palette. You could do the colors of the party or the person’s favorite color. You could even do RAINBOW 🌈 Now, that my friend, would be so cool! I think I might try that!🤔I usually like to do ombre. I think that it’s super cool and fun! After your colors are picked, I like to put them in order like this:
This way I know what color is next.
The next step is to color your blank card!
Yes, my friend, I agree, right now that it doesn’t look too pretty, but it’s time for the magic to happen!!!!! This is when you pull out your paint brush and water! Start dropping water on your card until you think it looks good!
Now it’s time for the crazy part…… put your card in the fridge with your parchment paper under it so that you won’t get water inside your fridge. I’ve forgotten that before and trust me, it made a mess. Set a timer for about 3-4 minutes, or until it looks done. The one important thing about this step is to not leave your card in for too long. So remember, that you don’t want your card to completely dry in the fridge!
After 3-4 minutes then it’s time for the reveal!
Isn’t that sooo stunning? I love it! And like I already said it’s super fun!
Here are a couple others that I have done.
You could also do calligraphy on it like this one!
I hope that this post has inspired you to be more creative! If you have any questions or comments feel free
