• A few days ago I was painting and ran out of black watercolor paint. So I made a speedy trip to hobby lobby to replenish my palette. Little did I know that I could make black watercolor paint easily at home! I actually just discovered this technique yesterday. While I was experimenting. The materials for this project are super simple. You’ll need:
    1. Activated charcoal
      1/2 teaspoon
      Mixing bowl
      Q-tip
      Water
      Scratch paper for testing
Palette for paint to dry in

The charcoal I have is actually in pill form. Which is really handy cause It’s already measured for me! So if your charcoal is in pill form you’ll need one capsule. If it isn’t, you’ll need about 1/8 teaspoon full of charcoal. Put the charcoal in your bowl.

Then add 1/2 teaspoon of water.

Mix it with your q-tip, until it looks like this!

Then add a 1/4 teaspoon of water. And mix thoroughly. Once your mixture looks like this, you are completed!😆

When your paint is completed you can pour it into your palette. Don’t forget to test it before pouring. To make sure it’s the right consistency for your liking!

Here is my palate. Excuse the mess!!!😂As you can see I paint with watercolor a lot!!! The black all the way to the right, is what your paint will look like when dried. And the black beside it is the one we just poured.

I hope you have enjoyed this post! And give it a try! Making things yourself is so fun and satisfying! Feel free to comment down below!😝
